BASF - Improving Our Reputation at Bradford Manufacturing Week
In October this year, over 230 students visited BASF's Bradford site as part of a local event to highlight the opportunities manufacturing can bring. The first ever Bradford Manufacturing Week was the idea of the Chamber of Commerce President Nick Garthwaite who wanted to inspire, encourage and educate local young people and promote opportunities for a fulfilling and rewarding manufacturing career.
Bradford, joined 38 other manufacturers to create meaningful experiences for around 3000 students from the local area. Commenting on the event, Joanne Love, Site Communicator said, “We were extremely keen to be involved with the Bradford Manufacturing Week. We hosted six site tours, welcomed six work experience students and ran three Kids’ Lab visits. It’s a busy time for us and those who were involved showed such enthusiasm and energy and were key to the success of the event – everyone was truly inspirational.” The event was so successful it was mentioned in parliament by MP for Bradford South Judith Cummins and Prime Minister Theresa May.
